"Wadingan"

The summer of 1975 was memorable. Spent the whole time in my dad's hometown of Guinzadan, Bauko (Mt. Province). My cousins, William, Timmy and other kids would go to the rice fields deep into the mud to catch  'karing' or rice field fish using our bamboo traps. We'd go home after a days catch and our grandma Badi would cook it Igorot style - steam boiled. The fish would be steamed and boiled with "tapuy" or rice wine plus the rice itself. Ginger and salt to add taste.

Well, yesterday I bought some river fish or "wadingan" and added mom's home-made "tapuy". Served it to my old man who hasn't been well lately.

Get well Thomas...
